The 2023 Thanksgiving season is now a memory and we at the Pillager Area Food Shelf are beyond grateful for the incredible support of the Pillager community. We would like to sincerely thank the Pillager Lions for their generous support with the Thanksgiving meals by both purchasing the meals and providing volunteer support. Food drives at the Pillager School, Up North Eye Care, The Shante, From Hair to There, other local businesses, community churches and area Child Cares in combination with individual donations of food have filled our shelves. These food donations combined with the financial generosity of so many of our neighbors, will help ensure the Pillager Area Food Shelf can continue to serve families in our community. The Pillager Area Food Shelf has experienced record usage in recent months, and we deeply appreciate all donations. Thank you and we appreciate your continued support.

Fun Stop School Age Care Program
The primary purpose of Fun Stop is to provide out of school time care for ages K-4th grade in a safe and enjoyable environment. We strive to help children feel secure, supported and respected. In return we appreciate positive and respectful attitudes from the children in our care.
Children must be enrolled, pre-registered and pre-paid in order to attend. We are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm during the summer and Monday through Friday before and after school.

Family Support
All families need help at some time. The Pillager Family Center is available to help families find the services and resources they may need. We have information and referral help to help families find other organizations that may be able to meet their needs.
Radiothon to End Child Abuse is an annual event in our area to help raise awareness about child abuse prevention. People are encouraged to make pledges and this money goes to area organizations, including the Pillager Family Center, to help end child abuse.
The Pillager Family Center has access to financial funding when grants are available and is able to pool resources with other organizations to help families. These funds are available depending on grants received and the number of people needing help.
Pillager Little Huskies Learning Center
The Pillager Little Huskies Learning Center is Four-Star Parent Aware Rated, and licensed by the State of Minnesota to serve fifty-four children for children ages 16 months through five years old. Please note that we are only accepting enrollment for children ages 33 months and older as space is available.

The Pillager Little Huskies Learning Center will provide love and care to your child in a safe, clean, fun environment by trained, caring staff. Pathway scholarships and child care assistance are accepted.

Child & Teen Checkups
This program is based on the preventive health philosophy of discovering and treating health problems before they become disabling. CTC includes a check of height, weight, hearing, vision, development, a physical assessment, nutrition counseling, immunizations, and lab work for hemoglobin, lead, and a urinalysis. Children from 6 months to 12 years can be screened. Child and Teen Checkup clinics are available on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Pillager Family Center.

WIC Nutritional Services
The special supplement food program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides specified nutritious foods and nutrition education to pregnant and breastfeeding women and infants and children up to age 5. Clinics are held monthly in all areas of the county. WIC is available at the Pillager Family Center on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of the month.
The WIC nurses are providing services remotely and will do their best to meet your families needs.

Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS)
The NAPS program are commodity boxes for senior citizens. If eligible, a box will be delivered monthly to the Pillager Family Center for you to pick up. Please see Michele at the Family Center or call (218) 746-4009 for more information or to register for this program.
Pick up date is the second Thursday of the month from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The NAPS paperwork will be brought out to your car to fill out and the box will be carried to your car by volunteers or staff. Please do not come in the building until further notice.
Pillager Food Shelf
The Pillager Food Shelf is open for families to self shop again! There will be a limited number of families able to come in to the building. Families will be served on a first come, first serve basis. Please be patient and wait outside until you are asked to come in. Please follow the policies that are in place to help keep our doors open and families, staff and volunteers safe and healthy.
Watch for the Pop-Up Pantry that is held once a month at the Pillager Fairgrounds.
Catholic Charities is providing frozen meals each month at the Pillager Food Shelf. These are available on the second Thursday of the month.
The Pillager Food Shelf is located and operated by the Pillager Family Center at 305 W. Fir Avenue. It is open on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Any family in the Pillager School District area looking for some assistance may stop in, no income requirements. Healthy Families Home Visiting Program
Families with children, prenatal through three months, have the opportunity to receive free support from our Family Support Specialist. The Family Support Specialist offers access to the Growing Great Kids and Growing Great Families curriculum, as well as a host of other supports.
Beginning prenatally, Growing Great Kids is a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum that supports the development of nurturing and empathetic parent-child relationships prenatally until your child is three years old. It does so by focusing on family support, child development and health, concerns parents have, and dynamics of parent-child and family relationships.
Our Family Support Specialist offers invaluable experience, much training, and genuine concern for families and children in the Pillager community.
