Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign

March is Minnesota FoodShare Month.  This campaign was started in 1982 and provided churches and place of worship an opportunity to assist in restocking local food shelves.  Last year this campaign raised 7.9 million dollars and 5.2 million pounds of food, the most successful campaign in its 34 year history.

There are several ways you can help our food shelf this month and possibly make history again with the amount of your donations:

1.  Make a donation to the Pillager Family Center either by donating on our Razoo page, mailing your donation to 305 W. Fir Avenue, Pillager, MN  56473, or stopping by the office Tuesday - Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
2.  Make a donation on the Second Harvest Heartland page.  This is the organization we purchase and order our food from to stock our food shelf.
3.  Organize a "Pack the Pews" at your place of worship.  Pick a weekend and ask your fellow parishioners to bring in canned goods.  Donations can be dropped off at our Fir Avenue location.  Another alternative would be to have a special offering for the food shelf.
4.  While we will definitely accept canned good donations, monetary assistance allows us the opportunity of assisting more people for less money.  Through our partnership with Second Harvest Heartland, this allows us to purchase items at a much lower price allowing us the ability to purchase more food items.
5.  Pass the word.  Share the news with your family, friends, and community.  Make sure everyone knows that March is Minnesota Food Share Month!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Alice at 218-746-4009 or Betty at 218-746-2185.
